Nearest is Berwick upon Tweed which frequently changed hands between the English and the Scots, whilst Alnwick, Kelso and Edinburgh can also be visited.

Visit Alnwick Garden, one of the UK's most innovative and spectacular garden projects, at Alnwick Castle - a major film location for the Harry Potter movies.

In this land of the notorious Border Reivers you can visit Flodden Field, and further south, Hadrian's Wall is a vivid reminder of when the Romans occupied this region.
